LA PARTITION DES CORPS

This musicale , immersive, interactive, and luminous installation was created for an exposition presented at Centre d’art Diane Dufresne. Chantre find his inspiration in the music as an element who keep together personal memories and moments from a particular epoch.

” La partition des corps, are body marked by the music. The melody that carries our memories moves slowly into the timeless musical mass. I want to create a strange space that brings the public, the transparent visage and the vinyl past owner’s memories. ”

The artwork is made from forty vinyl records found by Chantre. The previous vinyl’s owners put them on the street to give. The public have to burst wrapping plastic bubbles to activate the vinyl musics from different epoch. The public creates a deformed musical atmosphere made of many musics played slowly. This situation brings a different way to listen those familiar musics. Finally, the visage made of a transparent negative space is placed in the middle of the room.
